Bachelor's degrees after A-levels: what you need to know
Why choose a Bachelor's degree after high school ?
More and more school leavers are opting for Bachelor's degree courses in Management, which can be taken right from Post Bac. This highly professional course of study is both relatively short and so dense as to guarantee high levels of employability as soon as the diploma is in your pocket, so it's easy to see why. But do you really know all the advantages of a Bachelor's degree in business school? Here's a closer look at what makes a Bachelor's degree so special.
What is a Bachelor's program ?
Designed to provide students with all the theoretical and practical knowledge they need to enter the job market, the Bachelor's degree is a Bac+3 program offered mainly by business schools. This is particularly true of our Bachelor in Management, whose aim is to train project leaders and front-line managers with advanced knowledge of management and digital techniques.
A Bachelor's degree from a business school entitles the holder to 180 ECTS credits, equivalent to 3 years of higher education, or a Bachelor's degree (level II). One of the most attractive features of a Bachelor's degree in Management, for example, is that the diploma is recognized abroad, giving its holders genuine international legitimacy.
Highly professional, Bachelor's programs can be done on a sandwich basis to encourage contact with the business world as early as possible. Those who opt for a traditional curriculum will instead benefit from numerous internship periods, in France or abroad.
Admission requirements may vary from one school to another, but the first step is generally to submit a wish list for the school in question on Parcoursup. Following this pre-selection, successful applicants are invited to sit a competitive entrance exam and express their motivation at an oral interview. A Bachelor's degree in business school can also be accessed from the second or third year. It is aimed at students who have already validated credits at a university or state-approved institution. Holders of a BTS, DUT or RNCP qualification are also eligible.
The Bachelor's degree in business school: a pace of work to match its excellence
From one school to another, the pace of work for a Bachelor's degree in Management can vary enormously. The ideal is to achieve a balance between theoretical courses, personal or group projects and on-the-job learning through experience.
In all cases, you can expect to devote a great deal of time and commitment to your studies when you opt for a Bachelor's degree in business school. The number of hours also varies from year to year and from specialization to specialization. Take a close look at the proposed timetable for your course. It will give you all the information you need.
The advantages of Bachelor's programs
As we've seen, one of the greatest assets of a Bachelor's degree (in management or otherwise) is its professionalizing dimension. Thanks to modules taught by experts in their field, in-company internships and work-study periods, as well as assignments and projects that will refine your approach to decision-making, you'll benefit from an extremely comprehensive training program. More focused and renowned than university courses, Bachelors degrees are sought-after by companies. Aware of the prestige of these courses, companies are happy to recruit new talent from the ranks of Bachelors of Business School graduates.
The international aspect also plays a major role in the excellence of our Bachelor's programs. The English language is given special attention. EDC Paris Business School even goes so far as to offer an "English Track" version of its Bachelor in Management to prepare students for an international career. Through internships abroad lasting several months, students acquire a comfort with the language that would otherwise be impossible to achieve. They also get used to operating in a cultural context different from their own, and to demonstrating autonomy in their organization.
For many, this type of course can represent an exceptional springboard for embarking on an entrepreneurial adventure. Future managers take advantage of these courses to equip themselves with skills that will enable them to take on important responsibilities within an existing structure. To do this, they learn all the subtleties inherent in running a company. These sound principles are also put to good use by entrepreneurs, who can also choose to specialize.
Career opportunities for a Bachelor's degree in Management
Traditionally, students who opt for a bachelor's degree tend to do so with a view to continuing their studies. Indeed, the curricula are designed in this way, and career opportunities are less obvious for bachelor's degree holders than for those who have gone as far as a master's degree. By contrast, a Bachelor's degree takes three years to complete (just like a bachelor's degree), but is designed to prepare students for the world of business as soon as they have their diploma. Recruiters are well aware of the differences in skills and experience, and appreciate these more specialized profiles.
Of course, this doesn't mean that going on to a Master's degree - or even an MBA - is impossible, quite the contrary! Students who have opted for a Bachelor's degree at a business school have the kind of autonomy and hard work that predisposes them to go even further. In some cases, it's even possible to start working while preparing for an MBA, thanks to a special curriculum. Grande École programs are another interesting option.
Highly professionalizing, with a reputation for excellence among companies both in France and abroad, the Bachelor's degree is the solution of choice for many students. Those who want to give their careers the impetus they need to succeed, without having to embark on a lengthy course, see it as a sure-fire way of achieving their goals. For others, a Bachelor's degree will provide a solid foundation on which to go even further.
